trying to wrap up sponsorbook and video. spending lots of time with the nvc handbook / prepping next year’s team for the account. found a brave soul to take on one of the management positions – Sterling Lentz! He’s going to be a great add. to the account – should be good!

working on the NVC bailout/succession plan. it’s kinda a pain to re-live the entire NVC experience, but it’ll save next year’s team literally hours and hours of work that they don’t need to do. i’m a little jealous…

campaign eval is a week from yesterday, sponsorbook, final video and handbook need to be done! lots of work, not lots of time, but I think it’ll be just fine. (= and p.s. thank you to our “recovering accounting major” Kristin for making the NVC budget real world appropriate, rather than what my janky J. School budget skillz crafted (-;

a few of us NVC-ers have an idea for a new acronym for CLIC:
thoughts?? (-;

and p.s. I’m up to my EYEBALLS in receipts. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if there was a pre-paid NVC credit or debit card? Is that even possible with the structure of the endowment funds?

we survived NVC! Josh, Evan, Max, Kristin and I went up to Portland this past Thursday for NVC – everything went well, updates to come soon! It was a crazy weekend, but a good experience – how it’s time to prepare for campaign eval. with the client, make the sponsorbook, create the NVC video, and prepare our ‘gift’ for next year’s NVC team…

Whew, what a crazy week! NVC is in two days and i think we're pretty ready. We had a few scary moments – such as the programs being printed incorrectly two times (…campaign eval. note – we are definitely looking into outsourcing next year and not using UO Printing) however, 3rd time's a charm and the programs are finally correct and in the client's hands.
We also picked up event signage at Imagine Graphics the other day (love love love them!) Check out some of our NVC event collateral! http://kimkaralekas.com/2009/04/07/countdown-2-days-until-nvc/

After two or so weeks of AdWords being down, Chris has got our campaign back up and running. Erin also purchased our major online media – we’re getting there!

Max and Evan are amazing and have most of the event collateral and program completed. We’re now waiting for the program proof from the printer. Josh has created the idea elevator video, after much frustration with final cut failing, quitting and eating our files! Kristin is probably the best coordinator ever, even from hundreds of miles away, making sure communication is fluid, deadlines are met, and progress is continually moving forward. (=

Of the 160 teams who applied to compete, the 20 semi-finalist teams to come to PDX and compete in NVC 2009 have been announced! http://oregonnvc.wordpress.com/2009/03/13/18th-annual-competition-semifinalists-announced/
Less than a month until the events, LOTS to get done – this is a big re-structure and internal organization year for the NVC account – whoever is taking NVC next year should have a nice field guide of anything and everything they will ever need to run the account smoothly!!

Regarding budgets, I think it would be beneficial to explain to the AHA-ers how the agency and account fees work…perhaps in the next few weeks?

I’m working on organizing the NVC budget. I think budgets are a J. school student’s worst nightmare, but also something we should all be familiar and comfortable with taking care of.

NVC idea elevator booth – Looking at past posters and branding … really from last year, I like the idea of “see if you idea sucks” and “see if your idea dies” rather than “see if your ideas lives” – people, especially my age, are more apt to participate if they are put to a challenge. Who wants to be told that their idea sucks? Or that their idea is going to die? Either that, or they will purposely try to think of a horribly stupid idea which is sometimes just as funny.

WOW we pulled it off today! The process to get to this point was quite rocky at some points, but I knew we could pull it together, which we did. Of course there are a number of things I would do differently in retrospect; however, I think we all grew exponentially as a team and as individuals and we are on a good path.
The client seemed to like our ideas – I never feel like we can gain enough of their trust or impress them enough – the cool thing is we have all the resources and the platform to make a ridiculously amazing NVC 2009 – we just need to remain focused, dedicated and responsible.
Power in Possibility…
